What Operating System Are You Running

Operating System defined on Webopedia: “The operating system (OS) is the most important program that runs on a computer. Every general-purpose computer must have an operating system to run other programs and applications. Computer operating systems perform basic tasks, such as recognizing input from the keyboard, sending output to the display screen, keeping track of files and directories on the storage drives, and controlling peripheral devices, such as printers.”

All technology runs on some type of OS. A set of rules, processes, and methodologies, essentially a “program” that gives it the path to arrive at a specific result at the end. I bet you would find 5 things right away that run on a set of either simple operating rules or system, from the simplest to the most complex forms.

Take your own computer or just your smartphone for that matter. On occasion we get a pop-up informing us of an available upgrade. We are advised to install these updates so that our technology can continue to run smoothly with as few hiccups as possible, and so we do.

You might be wondering what the point of this explanation is, and why especially on this blog today? I recently realized that just like the OS of a computer, we run an Operating System in our own minds. A set of rules, processes, and methodologies that we apply to create specific results in our own lives. It seems like we have been running our lives based on this programming since the beginning of our time here on the planet. This OS was installed in us and we lived our life since. However, we haven’t called it our Operating System, we know it better as our Belief System. Or we can call it our BS for short, yes, the pun is very much intended here.

When our BS or Belief Systems is outdated and we haven’t installed our updates,  doesn’t it seem like our life is on the fritz? We experience glitches, technical difficulties, sometimes we drop signal and go offline, losing our connection altogether to source? The upgrade popup keeps pinging us on the screen of our life, and it politely asks if we would like to upgrade now or later. Many times not desiring an intrusion we choose later, continuing to stay with the impeded, sluggish and slow crawl to our questionable destinations.

We don’t always lovingly listen to our inner voice, gut or higher self, we instead doubt, second guess and interrogate, fight, resist and argue with it. And then we wonder why in the world is our life not going the way we want it to go?

Well, maybe it’s time to upgrade the OS, I mean BS! Maybe it’s time we stop choosing “later” and start choosing NOW. Perhaps it’s time to look at our belief systems honestly and see what is it that is serving us and what has ceased to serve eons ago?

On my own journey of recovery from abuse and trauma, I have learned that my old BS needed some serious upgrading. In fact, there were areas of my hardened thinking or hard drive, the thinking that drives me, that needed total reformatting. Some software was so darn obsolete that it simply had to be deleted and trashed, and there was no need for it to be replaced even. I am doing pretty well without it. I feel free as a butterfly, light as a feather!

I hope that in your Pause today you will look at and reflect upon the Operating System that you are running and see if it might be time for an upgrade in some areas or even a total reformat.

I wish you a powerful reboot for an upgraded BS!

Namaste!
