Why is transformation such hard work?

One of the things I love most is getting questions from people who have experienced my work in one way or another, whether it be through a blog post, program, event, or video. I particularly enjoy answering questions because it allows me to share my passion for my gift on a more personal level. I am able to be more specific and articulate about what I teach and how these principles affect certain aspects of our lives.

Just the other day someone asked me why the work we do with transformation has to be so hard. I really took this question to heart because it was something that I had asked myself from time to time as well. On a recent trip to Maui, I decided to answer this question with a short video. Take a look…

So you see, nothing in life happens without some sort of resistance. Human life, plant life, spiritual life…it all grows and develops through resistance and change. I used a seed as an example. When we plant the seed, it has to push and fight its way up to eventually emerge through the soil and become what it was meant to become. We enjoy a beautiful plant with a flower or maybe a fruit or vegetable…all because of the resistance, growth, and transformation that plant had to endure.

The same holds true for the Hawaiian Islands. Their breathtaking beaches and majestic views came about from a volcanic eruption that most likely caused devastation and destruction at the time. Again, something beautiful has come from incredible resistance and transformation.

Think about what would have happened had the seed or the volcano given up….had they not pushed through the soil or have caused such an overwhelming natural disturbance. What would life be like?

Now apply that to your life. What would your life be like had you not had to experience the difficulties that have made you the person you are today?  You will never know the answer to that question because, when you take time to Pause, you realize that everything has a purpose; everything happens for a reason whether we understand it at the time or not.

We are always exactly where we are supposed to be in time and space. You can take comfort in knowing that when you take a deep breath in, hold it for a moment, and breathe out slowly all is just as it should be. Remember, if it’s easy it’s not transforming us. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and let your light shine. Invite transformation into your life. Become who you were truly meant to be!
