Are We Really Meditating?

Imagine a business person coming home from a stressful day of work. After spending the day in meetings, phone calls, and traffic they are now ready to come home and relax. They put on water for tea, take a few deep breaths and settle down for a few moments of meditation.

This scenario sounds all too familiar. Many people use what they believe to be meditation as a way to relax and escape from the world, if only for a little while. I can tell you right now that in the example given above, the business person would not truly fit the definition of "meditating"....and here's why.

The practice that has become commonly known as meditating in this day and age is not actually the proper way to meditate. In order to be considered truly meditating, one has to reach a state of deep concentration that is hardly obtainable after coming from a highly stressful situation and simply taking a few cleansing breaths as in the example above. How Can You Allow Breath To Deepen Your Inner Awareness?

How often do you notice your breath? Every thought and action in our lives influences our breath. Breath can lead you into a place of emotional awareness and can help consciously empower you to create a life that you love.

Breathing is something that we have been doing since the very first moment we were born and will continue to do, hopefully, for a vrey long time! So, why not harness the latent power within us to heighten our awareness, deepen our connection to our breaths? Why not engage our breath, being the ally that it already is, to support us on this journey, helping us to manifest our truth and our place in the Universe - the place we were truly meant to be.

The Most Meaningful Gifts We Can Give

Every year at this time shoppers are busily hustling and bustling around town trying with all their might to find "the perfect gift" for the special ones in their lives. Commercials ring out "He went to Jared!" or "Every kiss begins with Kay" in an attempt to lure customers into particular stores in the hopes of making a profit.

This leads me to ask myself, what is a gift? I know how the dictionary defines the word, but how do we define it for ourselves on a daily basis? Do we believe that a true gift has to cost an enormous amount of money and come in a neatly wrapped box with a big red bow? Do we believe that a true gift must come from the heart and hold value in our lives like a long lost treasure? Maybe it's a combination of both.

What if a true gift need not cost anything at all? What if the premise surrounding gift giving was to give something of yourself; something no one else could offer, something you couldn't find in a store, something that could not possibly be purchased...

I Love You, I Hate You, I Love You

Think back to when you were a child. Things were much easier back then. If you were hungry, you grabbed a snack. If you were tired, you took a nap. And if you were upset you just threw yourself on the floor and cried...and it was perfectly fine. 

Something I miss about being a child is how innocently children love. Love to them seems to come naturally. They don't question it. They don't weigh the odds of getting hurt if they put their hearts on the line. No, children have a way of seeing the beautiful side in everyone and loving unconditionally. 

 

When we are born, we love innocently. There are no checks and balances. There are no conditions...nothing to consider before giving our love to another person. All we know is that pure, simple love. Love the way it was meant to be.
