This One Choice Will Change Your Life

In my practice, I hear story after story of how my clients just can't seem to find happiness in their lives. They can have a job that they love, a beautiful family...the whole package, the American dream if you will...yet for some reason, deep down inside they are left feeling unsatisfied.

These feelings can come about for many reasons, of course, but I like to focus on taking a few moments to dive deeper into my client's lives and find out what their goals and aspirations are. What are the things that they feel they are missing in order to find this elusive happiness that seems to be escaping them at every turn. What is it that they feel would bring them true abundance and bliss in their lives. Many times the answer is a simple "I don't know."

Life can certainly become complicated from time to time. I'm sure we have all had moments where we have felt like screaming at the top of our lungs out of frustration. Everyone has gone through the "Monday Blues" where it takes every ounce...

Peace in Our Hearts...Peace in Our World

We've all had days when we know we could have shown more kindness to others. I've seen mothers with young children in restaurants be short-tempered with the cashier taking their orders because they were frustrated with their children's behavior. I've seen people yell at customer service clerks because an item could not be returned. I've seen people at the pharmacy become upset with the pharmacist because their insurance wouldn't cover certain perscriptions.

From the outside looking in, we can see that these situations are quite unfair. Logically we can see that it's certainly not the restaurant cashier's fault that the children are misbehaving, nor is it the customer service clerk's fault that the item cannot be returned. Yet in that moment, we let frustration and anger take over and make us somewhat crazy. We lash out at the first person in our line of sight.

Paulo Coelho says, "We can never judge the lives of others, because each person knows only their own pain and...

Top 5 Ways to Become More Present

"Today is a gift. That's why it's called the present." -Bil Keane

Each morning when I am getting my girls ready for school, I can't help but think about how quickly time has passed. It seems like just yesterday that they were babies. It is so important for me to treasure each and every moment I have with the girls, because it is in those magical moments that the best memories are made. Whether we're reading a book together or singing and dancing to our favorite songs, I make sure to treasure the time I have with the girls. They will be off and on their own before I know it.

It is not always easy to live in the present moment. Lots of times we allow ourselves to live in a state of overwhelm and distraction, not even realizing we're doing it. We create a new normal that is anything but present. I'd like to share with you my top 5 ways to become more present in your life. Living in the present moment allows us to worry less and enjoy more. We are better able to find happiness...

Ready, Set, Go...or No?

"The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry."

-John Steinbeck, Of Mice and Men

We all have ideas, we make plans...but sometimes there is an inner voice that stops us from taking our ideas and dreams to the next level; to see them through to fruition. Despite all of the enthusiasm in the world, we fall short.

Have you ever felt this happen in your life over and over again? Instead of "Ready, Set...Go!" our inner voice suddenly shouts out "Ready, Set, No!"

So how can we silence this negative voice that creeps into our minds from time to time? What active step can we take to show this negative voice who's boss and regain firm standing in our lives? This is where Pausing for Power comes into play. Taking a moment to pause, breathe, and take inventory of our lives is a huge step towards gaining power over the overwhem that can sometimes consume us and takes the form of that nagging negative voice we hear.  We get caught up in having to follow the "play book" of life...

Prioritize and Simplify

Over the years I've often found myself getting overwhelmed to the point of near paralysis. This wasn't working for me, how could it? I now find that when I give up the way it looks to me, a.k.a the "overwhelm", I can just get present to what needs to get done. I begin with prioritization and then I break that down a little more and simplify my tasks even further. Now, I'm finally getting somewhere, consciously and purposefully. Experiencing my life without the drama of overwhelm is rather liberating. Most people I know talk about this list that never gets done. I've found a way that works for me finally, and I'd love to share it with you. You can start getting clear, prioritizing and succeeding in your life immediately.

Get Out of Your Own Way

For the longest time I couldn't understand what my blocks were to a successful life, and then one day I discovered they were block created by me, yours truly, moi. It was when I started to practice meditation and transformation that I was able to see that manifesting my deepest desires had always been in my grasp, I was just unable to see it and connect with it because I was in my own way.

You know what it's like when you're doing your spring cleaning and the house is cluttered with stuff? You're cleaning out closets and cabinets in the hopes of getting rid of the things you don't need and neatly organizing the rest. The same goes with life.

As time goes on, we allow things, people, events, and commitments to muddle up our lives. We become overwhelmed with the lives we have built; lives we thought were the ones we wanted and that would bring us happiness and fulfillment. But what really happens is that in trying to do a little bit of everything we get a whole lot of nothing done....

Will You Meditate or Miss Out in 2015?

A new year is upon us, and while my children are back to school, I find myself wondering where the previous year has gone. It seems between all of the coming and going, the emails and text messages, meetings and teleconferences...life somehow slips silently by without so much as a "see ya later". I don't know about you, but I for one am committed to make each moment of 2015 memorable.

As a subscriber to my email newsletter, you most likely are interested in wanting to learn more about how you can slow the pace of your life down and still be more, have more, and do more in the New Year. You have most likely considered meditation and might even have a regular practice. You are commited to some sort of spiritual practice in your life. My question to you is this: Are you making the time, right now, to pause or meditate...even if it's just for 5 minutes?

Methods of meditation are not set in stone. There are no "rules" per se. You don't have to sit on a yoga mat in a silent room filled...
